Work under 30: the most requested positions (and in which cities)

The labor market revives, with particular attention to the youngest who, finally, no longer seem to be the last wheel of the cart.

According to the latest data, there are almost 1,4 million employment relationships to start between April and June 2018, 425 thousand of which in April. Of these, 34% is intended precisely for young people. This is what emerges from the Bulletin of Excelsior information system, created by Unioncamere in collaboration with ANPAL, based on the expected revenues of companies with employees in industry and services between April and June 2018.

According to the analysis, the request for young people under the age of 30 in the month of April touches over a third of the planned revenues, for a total of 143 contracts. But - paradoxically - according to what we read in the Bulletin - the greatest difficulty in finding them is concentrated on the youth workforce, equal to 30% of the reports offered to the under 30s against the average 21%, calculated on the total revenue in April.

Going into detail, the most difficult positions to find among the under 30s are concentrated as per tradition in the more "technical" sectors. Among the most requested professionals are specialists in computer science, physics and chemistry, technicians in the fields of information technology, engineering and production, designers, engineers and similar professions. Financial and insurance services, IT and telecommunications services, commerce and paper industries are the sectors that reserve the most opportunities for young people. At the territorial level, Reggio Emilia, Brindisi and Teramo have the highest quotas of requests for the under 30s.

Considering the total income for April, the greatest difficulties in identifying the suitable candidate are found for the intellectual, scientific and highly specialized professions (41,6%), including above all specialists in mathematics, information technology, chemistry, physics and natural; craftsmen and skilled workers (31,5%); technical professions (30,5%), first of all computer technicians.
