Italian railway network, company 100% owned by Ferrovie dello Stato will take over 900 workers in the next two years. 700 will be employed as maintenance workers for the railway infrastructure while another 200 will manage traffic.

After the thousand hires that arrived last February, the company signed two new agreements with the trade unions who are part of the generational turnover project carried out by the FS Italiane Group which intends to include an ever-increasing number of young graduates or high school graduates within its workforce, simultaneously modifying the management processes of railway traffic and maintenance of the railway network.

"In the field of railway mobility - says Salvatore Pellecchia, national secretary of Fit-Cisl - I recall the 700 hires in Rfi in 2015, the 360 in Fs in 2016 and the over one thousand that we unlocked with the agreement of last February 6, which it guaranteed a generational turnover in FS paid entirely by the workers through the bilateral fund. In just three years, therefore, the FS group alone has created about three thousand jobs of work thanks to the union's commitment”.

The union also explains that “this agreement comes after many years of total absence of agreements and after a vast revision of the network of plants, due to the massive introduction of technology. In the maintenance processes, the agreement is still partial and the rest of the discussion will be concluded within the month of December”.

Furthermore, according to what is read in the note issued by Rfi: "the agreement for railway traffic allowsstrengthen the concentration of management activities, coordination and safety of the railway operation, improving the operational management and the efficiency of all human resources. The new work organization also makes use of the aid of new technologies, to achieve increasing levels of safety, network availability and quality of services offered to railway transport companies, travelers and the entire country system".

Finally, it must also be remembered that it was signed the verification of the National Agreement signed in 2015 relating to the maintenance process, aimed at guaranteeing continuous improvement of the service and greater availability of the network.
