Work: opportunities for 124 young people in businesses in October

UNIONCAMERE-ANPAL bulletin – Four job opportunities out of 10 made available by Italian companies are intended for young people under 29 – Which professions are most sought after and which ones encounter the most difficulties

Four job opportunities out of 10 made available by Italian companies in October are intended for young people under 29 years of age. In fact, out of 338 scheduled entrances, almost 124 (37%) are reserved for under 30s. But, of these, almost one in 3 (29%) is complicated, given the scarce presence of professional profiles aligned with the needs of the sector productive. These are some of the elements that emerge from the monthly bulletin of the Excelsior information system, created by Unioncamere in collaboration with Anpal, based on the expected revenues of companies with employees in industry and services between October and December 20171.

Among the professions that present the greatest difficulty in finding young people, specialists in computer science, physics and chemistry stand out: 2.290 entries of under 30s are foreseen for this profile in the month of October, 64% of which accompanied by difficulty in finding . This is followed by skilled workers in the wood and paper industries (1.240 wanted, 57% of whom are difficult to find) and skilled workers and plant operators in the textile, clothing and footwear industries (1.710, 56%). Looking for young people are above all companies related to tourism and hospitality, those operating in IT and telecommunications services, the chemical, pharmaceutical, plastic and rubber industries and financial and insurance services. In these areas, over half of the revenue expected in October will preferably go to the under 30s. Sondrio, Verbano-Cusio-Ossola and Lecco are the provinces in which companies show the greatest availability towards young people: in fact, in these realities, over the 40% of the revenue goes to those under the age of 30.

The difficult meeting of job demand and supply is not limited only to young people entering companies. Considering the total of programmed revenues (338), as many as 25,1% present some complexities. The textile, clothing and footwear industries complain the most (for which 48% of the professions sought in the month of October will be difficult to find), the engineering and metal product industries (45%), the metallurgical and metal products (45%). It is no coincidence that among the professions that are not easy to find, there are skilled workers and plant operators in the fashion industries (7.650 expected entries in October, 53,6% difficulty in finding) and workers in the engineering and electromechanical sectors ( 16.000, 50,9%).
