Despite the growing tensions due to the cost of energy and other raw materials, the demand for labor is growing at a good pace in our country. I am over 526 thousand workers wanted by companies for the month of September, about 91 thousand more (+20,9%) compared to the same period of 2019. The prospects are also good for the September-November quarter: 1,5 million hires are planned (+ 23,5% compared to the same quarter of 2019). This is what emerged from the Bulletin of the Excelsior information system, produced by Unioncamere e Anpal.

The increase in demand is supported by theindustry which plans 156 admissions for the month of September, which for the September-November quarter rise to 436, up respectively by 24,8% and 29,1% compared to 2019. manufacturing it recovers: with 114 admissions in the month and 317 in the quarter (+31,7% and +34,9% respectively compared to the same periods of 2019).

To lead, the industries of the mechatronics looking for 31 workers in the month and 87 in the quarter, followed by the metallurgical and metal products industries (27 in the month and 75 in the quarter) and by those textiles,clothing and footwear (16 thousand in the month and 45 thousand in the quarter). The demand for labor from the construction sector is also high construction: 42 thousand hirings planned in the month (+9,3% compared to September 2019) and 118 thousand in the quarter (+15,7% compared to the quarter 2019). 

There are instead 370 thousand i Job contracts offered by the services sector in the current month (+19,3% on September 2019) and over 1 million expected for the quarter (+21,2% on the 2019 quarter). The greatest job opportunities are offered by the sector of business (87 revenues scheduled for the month and 279 for the quarter), from that of services to people (84 thousand in the month and 188 thousand in the quarter) and come on accommodation services, Catering e tourist services (73 thousand in the month and 192 thousand in the quarter).

However, the growth in demand is accompanied by the difficulty in finding many professional figures, including: smelters, welders, tinsmiths, coppersmiths, metal carpentry fitters (66,2%), blacksmiths, tool makers and similar (65,8%) , artisans and skilled workers in the textile and clothing sector (65,5%). It is also difficult to find IT, telematics and telecommunications technicians (59,2%), commercial distribution technicians (58,7%) and those in the management of the production processes of goods and services (57,1%) as well as specialists in mathematical, computer, chemical, physical and natural sciences (57,2%) and engineers (47,8%).

For graduates in the various engineering fields and for those in the medical-health disciplines, almost half of the recruitments envisaged by companies are difficult to find; a similar share (48,3%) concerns graduates in the mechanical, mechatronics and energy fields, while the difficulty in finding qualified in the building and mechanical fields exceeds 50% (53,6% for both).

Overall, the share of hires for which companies declare difficulty in finding them stands at 36,4% (5,5 percentage points more than in September 2019), which rises to 51,6% for skilled workers, to 48,4% % for executives, 41,4% for technical professions and 37,7% for intellectual and scientific professions. Companies in the North-East regions encounter the greatest difficulty in finding them (41,5% of the figures sought are difficult to find), followed by those in the North-West (36,3%), Center (34,0%) and South and Islands (33,2%). 

The demand for labor appears to be driven mainly by fixed-term contracts with 275 units, equal to 52,3% of planned revenues. Followed by permanent contracts (109 thousand), temporary contracts (49 thousand), other employee contracts (37 thousand), apprenticeship contracts (28 thousand), other employee contracts (18 thousand) and collaboration contracts (10 thousand) .
