Employment: over 1,4 million contracts by July

Between May and July, Italian companies intend to activate 1,4 million contracts, of which 425 this month alone. Meanwhile, the growth in the number of businesses continues: in May there was a growth of 220 thousand units, 16,2% of the total. This is what emerges from the Bulletin of the Excelsior information system, created by Unioncamere in collaboration with Anpal, based on the expected revenues of companies with employees in industry and services between May and July 2018.

As for the territorial distribution of new jobs, 120 thousand contracts should be activated in the South, of which 30 thousand in Campania alone, which marks the regional record. Second position for the North-West (117 thousand), driven by Lombardy, where the private sector expects to activate almost 80 thousand employment contracts. Good also for the North-East (110), with Veneto in the front row at 45. On the other hand, around 80 employment contracts are expected at the Centre, of which 36 in Lazio alone.

In the meantime, however, the mismatch between labor supply and demand worsens. Compared to April, this month the finding difficulty reported by companies rose by 1%, which will concern 22% of the 425 scheduled contracts. Firms will encounter greater difficulties in finding highly specialized candidates (it is considered difficult to find 37,2% of intellectual and scientific professions), technicians (35,3%), as well as skilled craftsmen and workers (29,7% ).

The greatest difficulties are found in finding specialists in mathematics, information technology, physics and chemistry (57% of the 3.500 expected incoming profiles are considered difficult to find). Engineers follow (39,1%).

Among the craftsmen and skilled workers, the greatest difficulties in finding founds are reported for foundrymen, welders, tinsmiths, coppersmiths, assemblers of metal carpentry (39,8% the difficulty in finding the 6.700 contracts) and for blacksmiths, manufacturers of tools and similar (39 % of the 3.500), then reaching 41% of the 4 entries of craftsmen and skilled workers in the installation and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment.
