The Labor commission of the Senate has given the go-ahead for the delegation on the labor market, also approving the Government amendment which introduces the permanent contract with increasing protection and paves the way for amendments to article 18. The text should arrive in Classroom Tuesday or Wednesday.
Sel and M5S abandoned the work of the commissions before the vote, Fi abstained while the senators belonging to the majority parties all voted in favour, including those of the Democratic Party despite some stomach aches.
In detail, according to the amendment to the delegation, the Government will have to provide "for new hires the contract with increasing protections in relation to length of service". The intention is to make the contract with increasing protections the main form of entering the world of work for an indefinite period.
The Executive also aims to thin out the jungle of contracts, identifying and analyzing "all existing contractual forms – continues the amendment -, in order to be able to assess their effective consistency with the employment fabric and with the national and productive context international, also in function of any simplification interventions of the same types of contracts".
The government therefore intends to launch a Code to simplify the different types of contracts and employment relationships and, among the criteria indicated in the delegation for the launch of the decrees, there are some issues that impact on three articles of the Workers' Statute: article 4 ( prohibition of video surveillance), article 13 (on duties) and above all article 18 (which provides for reinstatement for dismissals without just cause and would be superseded with the contract with increasing protections for new hires).
Finally, there is also talk of a minimum hourly wage extended to co.co.co.
