Work: two out of five hires among the Under 30s in the digital world

Two out of five young people were hired in 2015 thanks to their skills in the digital sector. This is what emerges from the data of the Excelsior Information System of Unioncamere and the Ministry of Labour.
The hunger for "digital" comes above all from companies in Lombardy (26,2%) followed by those in Lazio (12,2%) and Piedmont (9,3%).

These and many other data on the digital sector were presented on Monday during the workshop organized in Rome in the presence of the Minister of Labor and Social Policies, Giuliano Poletti, and representatives of Google and Unioncamere within the "Crescere in digitale" project . The initiative aims to spread digital skills among young people who have joined the government programme "Youth Guarantee" but also to bring the small and medium-sized enterprises that will host the young trainees closer to the web. This project includes 50 hours of online training for young people, local workshops and over 3000 paid internships in companies.

I'm almost there today 36.000 children enrolled in the project; more than 2.600 young people who have completed the online training course; about 900 companies ready to host one or more aspiring "digitizers". And today there are over 2.000 young people who, having passed the first tests, can be sent to the traineeship provided in the many companies participating in the project, distributed throughout the national territory.

“The success recorded by Crescere in Digitale – he underlined Giuliano Poletti – is the confirmation of how young people are ready to take action and seize all the opportunities they deem useful to increase and qualify their skills and improve their employability”. “Offering quality training and the opportunity to experience it in the field, thanks to the collaboration between institutional subjects and the business world -added Poletti- fully falls within the spirit of Youth Guarantee, it comforts us in the decision to make it, more and more, a dynamic container of opportunities and to confirm its organizational infrastructure, also for the future, as an important part, specifically aimed at young people, of active employment policies”, concluded the minister.
