In the third quarter the gross wages index grew by 0,3% compared to the May-June period e 1,4% every year. This was communicated by Istat, specifying that the data is seasonally adjusted and refers to the equivalent full-time work units (Ula), net of the redundancy fund (Cig).
In comparison with the same quarter of the previous year, the increase in salaries is of 2,2% in the industrial sector and the 0,7% in services. The most marked growth trend in wages is recorded in the sector of mineral extraction from quarries and mines (+4,1%), due, among other things, to the disbursement of substantial redundancy incentives in some large companies. On the other hand, a decrease was recorded in the transport and warehousing sector (-1,8%), due to the postponement of performance bonuses usually disbursed by some large companies in the third quarter of the year.
The seasonally adjusted index of social security contributions increases by 0,3% compared to the previous quarter. The raw index grew by 2,2% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Like the growth of the seasonally adjusted wages and costs indexes, the labor cost index marks an increase of 0,3% in quarterly terms. In trend terms, the growth of the raw index is equal to 1,5%.
