Work and young people, Confindustria: the decontribution is total

Vincenzo Boccia, president of Confindustria, addresses the government and asks for 100% tax relief. The measures devised to date by the Government provide for the halving of the tax relief for the hiring of young people under 29. Confindustria's youth project aims to reconcile "the interests of businesses with those of families"

A clear message from Confindustria to the Government: "massive investments are needed for the recruitment of young people". The President Vincenzo Boccia explained that, in order for the measures in the pipeline to be successful, it will be necessary "to invest sufficient resources to guarantee full tax relief for the first three years, obviously with the limits that will be useful to avoid instrumental and distorted uses".

Companies are asking for a greater effort on the youth bonus front, in order to be able to achieve important objectives, with new jobs for young people at a rate of 300 thousand a year in the next three-year period 2018-2020.

To date, the Government is apparently thinking about a 50% contribution reduction for the permanent hiring of young people under 29. The contribution discount should include a ceiling of 3250 euros. The halving of contributions would cost the State, in the first few years, about one billion euros, to then grow to 2,5 billion euros when fully operational. Among the constraints introduced by the Government on companies there would be the impossibility of dismissing the subsidized hiring in the following 6 months.

“Confindustria's youth project – recalled from via dell'Astronomia – aims to reconcile the interests of businesses with those of families because the young people to be hired are none other than the children of Italian families”.

"Their entry into the world of work - underlines Confindustria - will have a positive impact on the real economy, making businesses more competitive, boosting consumption and restarting demand".

The de-contribution on work could represent the heart of the next manoeuvre. The measures to be approved will have to be radical, and will have to support the new generations, trying to integrate them into the world of work with quality.
