Work, Confindustria-unions: no documents

Today's meeting between Marcegaglia, Camusso, Bonanni and Angeletti ended in stalemate: tomorrow the social partners will appear divided at Palazzo Chigi, where official negotiations will open with the Government for the reform of the labor market.

Work, Confindustria-unions: no documents

A four-hour meeting was not enough to arrive at a common position. Tomorrow morning Confindustria and the unions will present themselves at Palazzo Chigi without having reached any agreement. At the table with the government on labor reform, the social partners will once again be divided, yet after today's summit the various leaders seem to want to avoid head-on confrontation. In addition to the number one industrialist, Emma Marcegaglia, and the vice president in charge of industrial relations, Alberto Bombassei, the secretaries of the three major confederal trade unions were present: Susanna Camusso (Cgil), Raffaele Bonanni (Cisl) and Luigi Angeletti (Uil).

MARCEGAGLIA: THE COMPARISON IS NOT OVER YET

“The meeting went well – commented Marcegaglia at the end of the long summit in the headquarters of the Confindustria guesthouse -. It was a long useful comparison that is not over yet”. A shared position on everything has not yet been reached and we don't even know if we will get there. We talked about incoming and outgoing flexibility and social safety nets. And we all decided together not to issue a document because we don't want to wage war on documents".

CAMUSSO: THE COMPARISON IS WITH THE GOVERNMENT

The CGIL leader even denied the same hypothesis of a common document between industrialists and trade unions: “There is a fantasy that we should make documents – said Camusso -, none of this. We have reasoned on the problems that exist, on the shared hypotheses and we will also reason on the basis of an agenda that the government should indicate tomorrow but we are not building a parallel negotiation. The confrontation – he concluded – is with the government”.

BONANNI: POSSIBLE CONVERGENCE

According to Raffaele Bonanni “we are working well and there is the possibility of convergence. However, there is the need to go in one direction, even on the part of Confindustria, to find a single solution. There are still issues to resolve." In particular, on the front of social shock absorbers "we need to guarantee protection to workers by improving the system". Finally, the CISL is "very opposed to the modification of article 18 and we hope to convince Confindustria not to get caught up in speeches that only serve to create a fuss".

ANGELETTI: TODAY JUST AN EXCHANGE OF VIEWS

Between trade unions and industrialists "we have seen that there is a sufficient similarity of opinions", but there will be no common document "in order not to prefigure the conclusion of a negotiation that is being made with the government". Luigi Angeletti said so at the end of today's meeting, then emphasizing that it was "simply an exchange of views".
