In July, the hours of layoffs authorized decreased by over 30% compared to the same period of 2012. This was announced by INPS, specifying that unemployment and mobility applications are increasing.

In July, a total of 80,6 million hours of layoffs were authorized, including ordinary, extraordinary and derogating interventions, with a decrease of 30,3% compared to the 115,7 million hours used in July 2012. Specifically, the hours of ordinary layoffs (Cigo) authorized last month were 25,3 million (-26,8% compared to July 2012), the hours of extraordinary layoffs (Cigs) decreased by 29,2% settling at 31,6 million, while interventions in derogation (Cigd) amounted to 23,8 million hours (-35,1%).

“For the third consecutive month, we have recorded a drop in requests and authorizations from the ordinary redundancy fund with a marked decrease also from the extraordinary fund. This is a substantial decrease which could confirm the timid signs of production recovery, glimpsed for the second half of the year. But these are data that cannot make us forget the seriousness of the crisis, confirmed by the unemployment data”, explains the president of INPS Antonio Mastrapascqua.

In fact, unemployment claims (including the new Aspi and mini Aspi subsidies) are on the increase, recording an overall increase of 20% compared to the 691.617 submitted in the corresponding period of 2012.
