Work, in July the number of hiring companies increases

According to the surveys of Unioncamere's Excelsior information system, the number of companies that have planned hirings is growing by 16,7% on an annual basis. But 1 out of 4 is hard to find. Fashion and Craft Mechanics are the profiles with the greatest difficulty

Work, in July the number of hiring companies increases

The companies hiring are increasing, +38 thousand compared to a year ago. Nearly 227 companies in industry and services planned to hire people in July 2018, up from 189 a year earlier.

The share of companies that have planned hiring rises to 16,7%, a marked increase compared to 14% in July 2017. The tertiary sector recorded the most intense increase in the share of companies requesting incoming personnel: on an annual basis, it goes from 14,6% to 18,2% of the total, with a maximum increase for the tourism sector (from 18,6% to 23,1%). The trend is also discretely growing in construction (from 11,1% to 13,2%), while in manufacturing there is substantial stability (+0,2 points compared to July 2017).

This is what emerges from the Bulletin of the Excelsior information system, created by Unioncamere in collaboration with ANPAL, based on the expected revenues of companies with employees in industry and services between July and September 2018.

With the "plus" sign also the number of employment contracts scheduled on an annual basis. More than 416 revenues are expected in July 2018 compared to almost 375 a year earlier. The entry rate (which expresses the ratio between the number of planned entries and company employees) stands at 3,5% (compared to 3,4% in July 2017), stationary in industry and growing in the service sectors, in particular in those to individuals (with almost one point more on an annual basis).

1 job out of 4 is difficult to find

Almost one job search out of four risks being rejected due to the difficulty of finding it reported by companies. The mismatch will concern over 24% of the 416 contracts scheduled for July, an increase compared to the same month in 2017, when it did not reach 21%.

Fashion, the top sector for mismatch

At the sectoral level, it should be noted that four of the first five sectors that have shown particular difficulty in procuring remain unchanged compared to July of last year: the wood-furniture industries and metallurgy (41 entries out of 100 are difficult for both sectors, indications up compared to 2017), the mechanical and electronic industries (difficult 38 entries out of 100, indications stable compared to 2017) and ICT (difficult 34 entries out of 100, indications down compared to 2017). The fashion-footwear sector completes the ranking, in first position, for which almost one entry out of two expected in the month of July is considered difficult to find (almost double compared to the same month in 2017).

Craft mechanic, the most difficult profession to research

Among the professions in greatest demand, the highest mismatch is found for artisan mechanics or repairers and maintenance workers of stationary and mobile machines: 48% of the almost 10 profiles expected to enter are considered difficult to find. The difficulty of finding it for the approximately 23 drivers of motor vehicles stands at around a third of the total programmed revenues and is slightly lower for the 14 technicians involved in relations with the markets.

The South in the lead for expected employment contracts

Southern Italy is the area of ​​the country that expresses the greatest demand for work in the month of July: 127 contracts scheduled, with Campania in the lead with over 34 expected entries. Second position for the North-West (110), driven by Lombardy, where the private sector expects to activate almost 73 employment contracts. The North-East follows (98 expected entries), led by Veneto with 37 entries. Finally, in the Centre, the entrepreneurial system plans to activate over 80 employment contracts, 46% of which (just over 37) come from Lazio.

As regards the share of companies that have planned hiring, in July 2018 the territorial framework shows a marked increase on a trend basis for the North-West (+3,8 points compared to 2017, settling at 17,4% of the total), for the North-East (+3,2 points compared to 2017, reaching 18,7% of the total) and for the Center (+2,9 points compared to 2017, reaching 16,2% of the total). The progress recorded for the share of companies that have planned to hire from the South and Islands was more contained (+1,6 points, 15,1% of the total).
