The Transport Authority will leave Turin and the Naples Communications Authority to move to Rome

Goodbye Turin and goodbye Naples. In order to reduce costs, all the headquarters of the national authorities will have to be housed in adjacent buildings identified by the state property. This is what the recent decree on the PA provides in article 22, paragraph 9. The Authorities affected by the reform of the Renzi government are that of Transport, that of Energy, that of public procurement, that of Communications, that on strikes in public services , that of pension funds as well as Consob, the Antitrust and the Anti-corruption.

Consequently, the Transport Authority will have to leave the Turin office to move to the capital and similarly the Communications Authority will have to leave Naples. It is all too easy to predict that the parliamentary lobbies headed by Turin and Naples and those linked to the trade unions will give battle but the Renzi government still has the weapon of recourse to the vote of confidence in store.

In addition to the reduction of offices, the decree also provides for the pooling - every two Authorities - of services concerning general affairs, financial and accounting services, purchases and tenders, personnel administration, asset management, technical and logistic services and information and IT services. The Government's objective is not only the reduction of expenses but also the rationalization of services in order to achieve greater efficiency. We will see how Parliament responds.
