Youth unemployment is undoubtedly a problem in contemporary Italy, but also there propensity of young people to work it is an aspect that should be studied more. Witnessing the availability of narrow-gauge boys today is Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini (Audi group), historic luxury car brand. The CEO of Sant'Agata Bolognese, guest of honor at the Economy Day organized by the Bologna Chamber of Commerce, reports that many young people send their resumes to the Casa del Toro, even from Milan or Rome, but "when it comes to move they don't move anymore”. And to say that there is plenty of room at Lamborghini, given that it hired one hundred people last year and will do the same this year. Another handicap of the candidates are languages. “In an international company like ours – adds Winkelmann – you need to know at least English. Italian kids, on the other hand, hardly experience abroad”. A big problem for a company, reports the Dire agency in a note, which sells 70% of its racing cars outside Europe.

In fact, a third of the Lamborghini market is represented by North America, a third by Europe and the Middle East, and a third by Asian countries bordering the Pacific. “The most important markets – underlines the CEO – are the USA and China”.

Exports allow Lamborghini to face the crisis, even if some backlash is inevitable: "In 2008 we produced 2.000 pieces, today 400 - concludes the manager - and the dark clouds come from the crisis, but also from C02, from duties, from taxes ee from ever stronger competition”.
