Lamborghini: production of the new SUV in Bologna. 500 hires and investments are on the way

500 new hires, the doubling of the plant and millions of euros of investment, this is the extent of the decision taken by Lamborghini. The luxury car brand intends to bring production of the new SUV to the Sant'Agata plant in Bologna. The government allegedly guaranteed the company tax incentives of up to 90 million euros.

Lamborghini will produce a new line of SUVs at the Sant'Agata plant in Bologna. The news was given by the Reuters news agency which informed of an imminent signing at Palazzo Chigi between the CEO of Lamborghini Stephan Winkelmann and the premier Matteo Renzi. 

"The introduction of a third model means the beginning of a new era for us," writes Winkelmann in a statement. Lamborghini, a well-known Volkswagen luxury brand, intends to produce its next SUV in Italy to be launched on the market by 2018. The company aims to sell around 3.000 vehicles a year, thus doubling the group's production, which last year delivered 2.530 vehicles.

The CEO announced the hiring of about 500 workers for the new production line, but also the doubling of the plant in Emilia-Romagna and the investment of "hundreds of millions of euros" during the development of the project. Also according to the Reuters news agency, the Italian government has authorized tax deductions and incentives of up to 90 million euros to encourage Lamborghini to establish production of the new SUV model in Italy.
