The Alfa Giulia immediately ranks at the top in terms of safety

Of the aesthetics and power of Giulia everything and more has been said in these first months of life which see the new car dominate registrations in the D segment, increasing Alfa Romeo sales by over 47% in September compared to the same month last year.

Distinctly Italian design, high-performance and innovative engines, perfect weight distribution (50/50) with an extraordinary weight/power ratio, unique technical solutions and rear-wheel drive, which ensures high performance, great emotions and fun: get on board the new Giulia it really means entering a dimension in which you are the fulcrum.

Every detail has been conceived with the focus on the driver in mind. But the beauty of the forms and the mechanics of the emotions would not be so appreciated if they weren't combined with the highest levels of safety. Levels that the new range of Alfa cars reaches and thanks to which it was awarded the prestigious Euro NCAP five-star rating, obtaining the result of 98% in the protection of adult occupants: it is the highest score ever achieved by a car, even considering the stricter grading system introduced in 2015.

An extraordinary result achieved thanks to two fundamental elements of the new Alfa Romeo sports sedan: on the one hand, the adoption of numerous innovative safety devices; on the other, the efficiency of a body as rigid and resistant as it is light, which makes extensive use of ultra-light materials such as carbon fibre, aluminum and aluminum composite. This is therefore an important acknowledgment which once again confirms Alfa Romeo's particular attention to aspects related to the protection of all road users.

Faithful to the Alfa Romeo tradition, the Giulia offers innovative technical solutions to guarantee excellent dynamic behavior which also translates into high driving safety. Among the more sophisticated contents we note the Integrated Brake System (IBS), which significantly reduces the braking distance (from 100 km/h to 0 in 38 m for Giulia and 32 m for the Quadrifoglio version), the refined with exclusive AlfaLink technology and the most direct steering in the segment: elements that ensure maximum road holding and easy, intuitive control of the car in any situation.

Finally, in the area of driving assistance devices, a field which will become increasingly important in the competitive challenge of the top players in the world of cars, Alfa Romeo with the new Giulia is at the forefront thanks to a series of innovative functions.

For example, Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Autonomous Emergency Brake (AEB) with pedestrian recognition function are standard on the entire range which, through the use of a radar sensor and a camera integrated in the front windscreen, detect the presence of any obstacles or vehicles in the path of the car, warning the driver of the imminent risk of collision. If the driver does not intervene, the system automatically applies the brakes, avoiding the impact or mitigating its consequences.

Furthermore, thanks to the pedestrian recognition function, through the interpretation of the information coming from the radar and the video camera, the AEB is able to stop the car autonomously up to 60 km/h. Last but not least, the equipment is completed by Lane Departure Warning (LDW), also standard on the entire range, which recognizes an unintentional lane change and Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) with Rear Cross Path Detection function, optional which, by monitoring the area around the car via sensors, assists the driver when changing lanes, overtaking and when leaving the car parks by monitoring any approaching cars.

A concentrate of technology and innovation in a car called upon to relaunch Alfa, removing it from the awkward position of those who found themselves having to chase precisely those brands, especially the German ones, which were its pursuers when the Alfa house was the recognized leader of sporty performance sedans. A glorious past that the new Giulia wants to revive not only in the emotions of memories but also in the satisfaction of successful sales.

Its progenitor, the old Giulia, three volumes with a truncated tail, produced from 1962 to 1977, reached one million units sold, while the overall sales record for Alfa dates back to 1989 at 143. Figures that are a stimulus to reverse the course of a brand which among the many challenges entrusted to the Giulia is preparing to land on the US market as well.
