Timing and methods are yet to be defined in detail, but the decision has been made: Bologna's Marconi airport will be listed on the Stock Exchange. This was announced by the public shareholders, the Chamber of Commerce (50,55%), the Municipality (16,75%), the Province (10%) and the Emilia-Romagna Region (8,80%), which together hold 86,1% of the share capital.

“The objective – they write in a note – is to proceed through a public offer for sale and subscription which allows for a capital increase for a value of around 30 million euros functional to the implementation of the industrial plan and the development of the airport layover". If times are quick, the landing at Piazza Affari could take place by the end of the autumn.

“Bologna Airport – underlined the public shareholders – is one of the major Italian airports in terms of number of passengers and destinations served. Its growth opportunities translate into the strength of a reference area that covers over ten million people. Marconi is completing a 65 million euro investment plan which it has implemented in complete financial autonomy and with full and constant economic and patrimonial solidity. It is therefore time to give new impetus to the infrastructure by strengthening its capitalization through recourse to the Capital Market which will allow, in an open and transparent manner, the entry of a shareholder base, even widespread, which will certainly favor the growth potential that the 'Bologna Airport is able to express itself in order to also be a protagonist in the Italian airport scene”.

In the first two months of 2014, the airport recorded a passenger growth of 10,2% compared to the same period of the previous year, for a total of 800 passengers. A trend that should lead Marconi to reach the goal of 6,5 million passengers per year.
