La Stampa and Repubblica, the wedding is near

The agreement now seems to be in the pipeline: the L'Espresso group, which publishes the newspaper founded by Eugenio Scalfari, should incorporate the Turin-based Itedi, which controls the Agnelli family newspaper and also Il Secolo XIX – The operation will mark a turn towards the exit of the Agnellis also from the capital of Rcs, of which they are the first shareholders.

The wedding should eventually take place. Rumors of an editorial union between La Stampa and La Repubblica, controlled respectively by FCA (Agnelli family) and Cir (headed by De Benedetti and which through the L'Espresso group publishes Repubblica), seem increasingly concrete: according to sources familiar with the integration project - which will perhaps see the light precisely with a communication this evening – would be under study the incorporation by the L'Espresso group of the Turin-based Itedi (which also controls Il Secolo XIX). The operation could mark the starting whistle towards the definitive exit of the FCA shareholder from the capital of RCS, while the Itedi shareholders will receive a minority stake in Espresso.

FCA is currently the leading shareholder of the via Solferino group, with a share of approximately 16,7%. It is not yet known whether the departure of the Agnelli family will be a total farewell or only a part of the stake will be sold and if, if so, it will be given in pre-emption (even if the RCS pact no longer exists) to the current shareholders, with Urbano Cairo or Diego Della Valle that they might come forward.

The agreement in the pipeline is pushing up in MY BAG both the Rcs Mediagroup share, which at the end of the morning in Piazza Affari gained more than 5% at 0,6 euros per share, and that of the L'Espresso publishing group, which with the same percentage increase is traded at 0,898 euros.
