Rome conquers Palermo and Lazio takes third place

Rome aims at the top. And by Rome we mean the entire city, regenerated by the victories of the Giallorossi and Biancocelesti against Palermo and Frosinone. The most delicate match was certainly that of Roma, awaited by a Palermo hungry for points but above all by a very hot environment, ready to focus on the team and coach at the first difficulty. Instead, Garcia and his team were able to undo Borisov's debacle, conquering Barbera with a round and convincing victory.

“I had no doubts – commented the French coach. – Now we have to show that we play well for 90', like against Juve and Barcelona. We will need the break to better integrate the reinforcements of the summer”. Nice sigh of relief for the Frenchman, who ended up in the dock after the last difficult period, which culminated with the defeat in Belarus. To cancel it, Roma could only win and they succeeded with an excellent performance, albeit affected by the usual errors of concentration.

After less than half an hour the Barbera scoreboard read 0-3, the result of goals from Pjanic (2'), Florenzi (14') and Gervinho (28'). But with the Giallorossi, as we know, it's better not to take anything for granted and so, in the second half, the Rosanero reacted, culminating with goals from Gilardino (58') and Gonzalez (91'). Gervinho (92') once again put the final stamp on it: the Ivorian is officially back to making the opposing defenses tremble.

Roma thus leapt to 14 points in the standings, 4 from leaders Fiorentina and -1 from Pioli's rediscovered Lazio. Because in this crazy championship there are also the biancocelesti, able to score the third consecutive victory (the fourth also considering the Europa League). The success against Frosinone was less easy than expected but it still arrived, confirming the new-found solidity of Pioli's eleven.

“We wanted to take her home and we succeeded – her comment after the match. – We lacked energy a bit and it was the spirit that made the difference. Now comes the break, we'll need it to recover some brilliance”. In fact, beating Frosinone turned out to be more complicated than one might think on the eve, a matter of tiredness (the Europa League, as we know, always weighs) but also of a solid and determined opponent.

But then the superior technical rate came out, especially in the 80th minute: Keita, who came on 20' earlier in place of Kishna, clocked in with an unstoppable diagonal shot. In full recovery the seal with Djordjevic, ruthless in realizing a counterattack and scoring the 2-0. The Capital raises its voice and is a candidate for a season as a protagonist. With both teams, now more than ever…
