PA reform is law: definitive ok from the Senate

The Hall of Senate gave the definitive green light to the reform of the Public Administration with 145 votes in favour, 97 against and no abstentions. The Ddl delegation thus passes into the hands of the Government for the implementing decrees. The text was much contested by the unions, but according to the Government's Def it could be worth 0,4 percentage points of GDP over the next 5 years.

Among the main points of the reform, the reorganization of the local public services, the squeeze on the offices of the managers, the cut of Prefectures e Chambers of Commerce and the integration of Forest Rangers within one of the other police forces.

The first package of implementing decrees should arrive immediately after the summer break. There are as many as 15 proxies which will have to be followed by an equal or greater number of measures.

"A hug to the owl friends," Prime Minister Matteo Renzi commented on Twitter.
