The eagerly awaited new iPad has finally arrived in Italy, the third model of Apple branded tablet. Presented on 7 March and previewed in ten countries around the world (including the USA, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Japan) a week ago, within a few days the new jewel has already sold over 3 million pieces. And from this morning, indeed from tonight, it is also available to the Italian public, and to that of 24 other countries.
There were no reports of the usual crowds in front of the Apple Stores, precisely because some stores have chosen to bring the release forward to midnight on Thursday, thus giving life to the “white night” of the iPad. So did some Tim, Vodafone and Tre resellers and the Media World, Saturn and Marco Polo Expert chains. And there are those who, in order to arrive in time at midnight and one minute, have spent practically two sleepless nights: in Rome, for example, in front of the Apple Store in the Roma Est shopping center there were already hundreds of people stationed dawn of the day before.
For those who prefer to do things calmly, the new tablet is still available from today also by ordering it on the Apple Store online: shipping times range from 7 to 15 days. For the rest, no news: as announced, the new iPad is sold at minimum price of 479 euros in the 16 GB version (100 euros more than the 32, 679 euros the 64 GB one), and the flagships are thevery high resolution of the Retina Display (which has four times the pixels of the iPad 2 and a million more pixels than a Full HD TV), the 5 megapixel iSight camera and the ultra-fast internet connection, thanks also to the Lte connectivity (still experimental in Italy) and the Wifi + 4G version, which can be purchased at a cost of 599, 699 and 799 euros depending on the memory size.
Nothing new as far as the design is concerned, exactly identical to that of the previous model, even if a little heavier due to a bulkier and more performing battery: it will last 10 hours. However, in this respect the new iPad has already aroused some perplexity: after a tam tam of the network, in the United States Consumer Reports has mobilized to protect consumers, discovering that the tablet heats up too quickly, reaching a temperature of 46,6 degrees.
