The lower sale of US homes is slowing down the Stock Exchanges but the banks are supporting Piazza Affari

The unexpected drop in home sales in America is holding back the stock markets but the banks (except Bpm) support Piazza Affari (+0,68%) which is one of the best European stock exchanges, if we exclude Portugal - Fonsai (+5,79 %) and the major credit institutions behind the good stock market performance - Bernabè promises clarity on the spinoff of the daily network

Reduced tensions in Portugal allay fears over eurozone debt. Milan benefits from this +0,68% at 16233 thanks to the rebound in the banking sector (sector Eurostoxx +0,6%).

Paris also rose +0,37% and Madrid +0,29%. The London Stock Exchange falls by 0,11%, Frankfurt by 0,01%.  

The Btp/Bund spread drops by 7 basis points to 279.

It is the Portuguese spread that is leading the recovery of the suburbs. The differential with the German ten-year bund contracted by 41 basis points to 469 for a yield of 6,19%, the lowest in the last three weeks and far from the 7,2% of last week.

In Lisbon the Banco Internacional do Funchal rises by 8,3%, the Banco Comercial Portugal advances by 4,4%, the Banco espirito santo (possible buyer of the Banca della Svizzera Italiana controlled by Generali) earns 9%.

The indices are positive Wall Street: S&P +0,16%, Dow Jones +0,14%, Nasdaq +0,31.    

However, the shadow of disappointing forecasts weighs heavily Mc Donald's -3% which closed the quarter with a net profit lower than expected, also warning that the results of the entire fiscal year will be "put to the test" by the contraction in sales in Europe.

The securities of the large banks shone in Piazza Affari, with the largest quantity of Italian government bonds in the portfolio: Unicredit + 2,49% Understanding + 1,71% Ubi + 1,18%.

Down instead Pop.Milan -1,27% and MontePaschi -0,55%.

Hits new highs Bank Ifis + 6,08%.

Deutsche Bank's rating pushes upwards Mediolanum +1,92%. The German bank confirmed the buy by raising the target price on the stock to 6,5 euros.

Barclays' vote instead gives a boost to Saipem +2,71%, judged overweight. Eni advanced by 0,1%.

A sharp rise Fondiaria-Sai +5,79% after the request for seizure of the assets of the Ligresti family made by the commissioner ad acta, Matteo Caratozzolo, appointed by Ivass (formerly Isvap).

Generali + 0,62%.

leap of Cleansing +6,12% after the rumors about the interest of the Qatari Sovereign Fund.

in luxury, Tod’s +1,64% marks new all-time highs, Yoox + 2,03%.

It stops at parity, after a rebound attempt, Telecom Italy.

Shopping for Finmeccanica which earns 1,88%. The subsidiary also increased Ansaldo Sts + 2,76%.

Fiat falls by 0,17%.

Back off StM -0,2% awaiting the second quarter results which will be released this evening. This morning Philips +3,42% released better-than-expected quarterly results.
