The League to Minister Passera: what prospects for Sigma Tau?

What prospects for Sigma Tau, grappling with a non-performing budget and layoffs? The Lega group in Montecitorio addressed the Minister of Development, Corrado Passera, also in his capacity as former CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo which financed the purchase of Enzon Pharmaceuticals, the US pharmaceutical giant, in 2010.

The Sigma Tau group is made up of several companies and employs around 2.500 people. The League recalls that towards the end of 2011 the company applied for extraordinary layoffs for 569 employees, while the restructuring plan would envisage the liquidation of two research and development centres, one in Milan and the other in Caserta ( there are about 400 researchers at Sigma tau). In the last few hours it seems that an agreement has been reached between the parties, but – underline the thirty deputies of the Carroccio who signed the question – “there remains the doubt of a crisis that suddenly manifested itself to everyone, a short time after the operation with Enzon which was ensure broad and prosperous industrial horizons”.

In the question (among the first signatures those of Brigantini, Allasia, Guido Bonino, Cavallotto) reference is also made to the "doubt raised by some press organs which would accuse Sigma Tau of having conducted unfair practices regarding the transfer of income from Italy to other European companies, with a consequent worsening of corporate results in Italian companies”.
