Juve makes history: fifth consecutive championship

Only Grande Torino and Juve between 1930 and 1935 had managed to win five Scudettos in a row and yesterday Roma's victory over Napoli gave the Bianconeri the mathematical certainty of being Italian champions again. unthinkable success after the initial hardships that had confined Juve to fourteenth place – Great merits of the club chaired by Andrea Agnelli, of the coach Allegri, of captain Buffon and of the whole team.

Juve makes history: fifth consecutive championship

What a party it is! Roma's victory over Napoli put the seal on the Juventus championship, this time for real. In fact, even mathematics has had to surrender to the excessive power of Juventus, a sort of dictatorship that has been going on for 5 years and which does not seem to know an end. Never as in this season is the tricolor deserved, paradoxically even more than in 2013/14, when the Lady of Conte totaled 102 points in the standings.

That primacy is not at risk (for now, of course), but all the others have been pulverized by an incredible and unexpected roadmap. Because Napoli was a real opponent, much more than that of Garcia's Roma who never affected Conte's primacy, it is above all because Juve had started badly, indeed very badly.

On matchday 10, the Bianconeri had collected just 12 points, 11 less than the Giallorossi (first for a while but still first) and 9 behind the trio Napoli, Fiorentina and Inter: the Scudetto would have been impossible for everyone but not for the Lady.

"Everyone is ready to celebrate our funeral, instead we have simply written history" gloated Andrea Agnelli via Twitter, in his fifth consecutive Scudetto in 6 years of managing the club.

The historical reference is anything but casual: in fact, to find a team capable of winning 5 titles in a row, we need to go back to 1930-1935. It was the era of Edoardo Agnelli as president, of Carlo Carcano as coach, of the "method" as a game system (the famous WW) and of champions such as Combi, Rosetta, Calligaris, Sernagiotto and Orsi on the pitch.

81 years have passed and history repeats itself but with different protagonists, destined however to remain in the legend just like the aforementioned ancestors. “It was a crazy Scudetto, the streak of 24 victories out of 25 matches I think will be unrepeatable – commented Massimiliano Allegri. – In October we were 12th and out of everything, but then an incredible comeback came".

The Juventus coach is one of the great architects of this victory, as rightly remembered by Giuseppe Marotta. “We have always been close to the team because we knew we had an excellent coach – explained the general manager. – He's not only good in the technical-tactical aspects, he also knows how to manage the locker room wonderfully. His renewal is just a formality, we will finalize the last details during the week ”.

Victories are never the result of a single element, and after having celebrated the club and the coach, it is right to exalt the players, the real protagonists of this championship. Gigi Buffon certainly stands out above all, author of one of the best seasons of his extraordinary career. Unbeaten record (974') aside, the Captain gave away crazy saves from start to finish, almost as if time, instead of moving forward (38 years old in January), had stopped.

An obligatory mention then for the various Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini, Marchisio, Evra and Lichtsteiner, senators of an unrivaled locker room in Italy, as well as for Dybala (capable of chasing away the ghost of Tevez in less than 6 months), Pogba ( after a bit of a start like this, mister 100 million is back) and Mandzukic (it won't be beautiful to see but its usefulness is almost disconcerting).

A step below (however high, mind you) are all the others, testifying to an ultra-competitive squad and, once again, unattainable for any opponent. The race for the Scudetto, also this year, goes on file without discussions: the + 12 on Naples, moreover, does not allow for the right to reply.
