The numbers were released by Gtech, formerly Lottomatica, which presented its social report today. The company also underlined that, thanks to the regulation of the sector, the impact of illegal gaming in the last 10 years has been considerably reduced, going from 57% in 2003 to 8% in 2012.

However "there are still pockets of illegal gaming" and Confindustria "estimates that there are over four thousand illegal betting points in Italy", writes Gtech, specifying that the full recovery of the existing illegal gaming "would bring an additional billion euro to the treasury" . In 2012, the group's contribution to Italian coffers reached 3,6 billion euros, 44% of revenue from gaming (8,1 billion euros).
