China joins Irena, the Renewable Energy Agency

The Asian giant's entry into the International Renewable Energy Agency represents a historic step forward for the Abu Dhabi-based organization – Irena signs an agreement with the United Arab Emirates to obtain the rights, privileges and protections of an international organisation.

China joins Irena, the Renewable Energy Agency

La China has announced that it will join Irena, the International Renewable Energy Agency. The accession of the Asian giant, the world's largest energy producer, and one of the most advanced countries in the creation of technologies for the use of wind, solar and water energy, represents for Irena, which counts 160 countries among its ranks, a breakthrough of historic proportions.

The announcement was made during the organization's third annual meeting by Chinese Deputy Energy Minister Liu Qi.

In the context of the same assembly, another important announcement came from the United Arab Emirates, and it concerns the formal ratification of the agreement with Irena, thus confirming the central role of the International Renewable Energy Agency.

In the stipulated agreement, Irena obtains all the rights, privileges and protections of an international organization, the first based in the Middle East. In this way, the United Arab Emirates reaffirm their centrality in renewable energy development projects.
