The Stock Exchange falls but defends 21 and the BTP flies

Mediaset loses 3% and hits the FtseMib index which closes down by 0,3% – Tenaris and Saipem also hurt and profits were taken on Fineco. Industry (Brembo, Stm, Prysmian) and Enel go against the trend – Yields on 10-year BTPs soar and the spread widens

The Stock Exchange falls but defends 21 and the BTP flies

Equities drop slightly and sales rain on government bonds: the financial day closes with Piazza Affari in fractional decline, -0,33%, but over 21.000 points (21.015) and the spread starting to gallop again. Bonds, from the US to Europe, are pawning the prospect of a progressive, albeit gradual, normalization of monetary policy by central banks, but the Italian ten-year benchmark suffers the most. The spread between Btp and Bund rises to 176.40 points (+4,32%) and the yield to 2,34%.

The other European price lists are contrasted, but not far behind: London climbs 0,19%; Frankfurt +0,06%; Madrid -0,09%; Paris -0,14%. Wall Street opens well, with the data on new jobs for June, higher than expected, even if the trend in wages does not keep up and the unemployment rate rises slightly. At the moment, the three main stock exchanges in New York are growing and do not seem to be affected too much by the new collapse in oil, another important element of the day.

In fact, after yesterday's positive performance, in the wake of the fall in US inventories, today crude oil reverses course heavily, because attention is focused on the increase in production, awaiting the Baker Hughes data on US drilling rigs, in program tonight. Brent -2,66%; $46,83 a barrel; Wti -2,66%, $44,31.

Gold also fell sharply: -1,38%, 1208,755 dollars an ounce. The dollar rises slightly, toned down by the data on labour. The euro-dollar cross is 1,138 (-0,28%).

Piazza Affari's black shirt is Mediaset, -3,07%, following the presentation of the schedules, with somewhat uncertain news on the future of Champions League rights, Premium pay TV and advertising revenues, without forgetting the open game with Vivendi. The stock is probably also penalized by the downgrade of JP Morgan and Exane Bnp Paribas. A session to forget for oil companies, Tenaris -2,61%; Saipem -1,85%; Eni - 0,99%. Sharp decline Finecobank, -2,81%. Intense sales on Ferragamo -2,13%.

Money focuses again on Brembo, +1,72%. Stm +1,23% and Prysmian +1,19% did well. Fractional earnings for Enel +0,43% and Terna +0,81%.

Profit taking on banks, which tend to be weak, with the exception of Ubi, +0,34%. Carige under fire -4,77%, after the rally of recent days.
