The Stock Exchange closes the year with a plus sign

The last trading day of 2016 closed at "zero point" for almost all European lists, without great leaps or great jolts. The Ftse Mib marks +0,16%, London +0,32% and Frankfurt do better, +0,26% which also allow themselves a few more hours of vacation and close earlier than their Latin colleagues. The Ftse 100, among other things, archives 2016 at 7.143 points, on the historical highs. Paris marks +0,27% and Madrid +0,04%.

Even Wall Street opens listlessly and after a few hours the stocks settle in a red zone, with the Nasdaq more markedly negative. The euro continues its revenge against the dollar and is traded at 1,055 (+0,62%). Brent fractionally down (-0,47). However, crude oil prices are preparing to close the year with the largest rise since 2009, following the optimism generated by the agreement on the cut in output by the producing countries.

The spread between the ten-year Italian and German today forces us not to toast: +5,33%; 171.90 basis points; yield +1,93%. The banks travel in no particular order. Mps is missing, which closes the year as a great absentee. Today Bankitalia confirms, in a note, that the intervention of the State in the precautionary recapitalization will involve an initial liquidity injection of 4,6 billion and then an outlay of approximately 2 billion to compensate the retail subordinated bonds. The central bank specifies that the difference between the capital increase envisaged on the basis of the market solution (5 billion) and that with the State (8,8 billion), depends on the different assumptions and objectives of the two measures, which imply methods of different calculations and lead to different results.

Returning to those present: Unicredit -0,07% and Intesa San Paolo +0,58%, are the most traded stocks of the year and replicate the 2015 record. Intesa, by countervalue, with a total of 78 billion euro; Unicredit for contracts, equal to 5,8 million. Last single day for Bpm, -0,72% and BP, -0,43%, which merge on Sunday and will return to trading on Monday in the new guise of Banco Bpm. However, the uncertainty surrounding the inspection activity of the European Central Bank already hangs over the family, which must communicate the results of the Srep to the new bank and the final report of the inspections that have recently concluded. Positive Ubi, +0,54%. Profits taken on Buzzi -1,44% and Terna -0,68%.

Finally, outside the main basket, the good momentum of Brembo continues (+1,66%) which will return to the Ftse Mib starting from January. In the morning, the stock reached a new all-time high at 58,3 euros.

We close with some notes on the annual balance sheet. On the podium sits London, which dominates the financial scene from the top of its multinationals and in the year of Brexit, but also of the devaluation of the pound, brings home a 14,4% growth for the Ftse 100.

Piazza Affari has a completely different sign: -9,68% the Ftse Mib over 12 months (as of 23 December). The overall capitalization of listed companies also decreased: 524,9 billion euros, equal to 31,8% of GDP, compared to 567,6 billion at the end of 2015 (34,8% of GDP) despite the collection of 6,1, XNUMX billion from already listed or newly listed companies.

Finally, on the other side of the ocean, the sparkling wine will be uncorked this evening: the Dow Jones is preparing to close with an annual gain of around 14% (the largest since 2013), while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq are satisfied with +10 respectively % and +9%.
