The Bank of China also takes 2% of Mediobanca

The stake was purchased entirely last year 14 October, or during the visit to Italy of a delegation of Chinese businessmen and politicians, including Prime Minister Li Keqiang, who also met Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. On the sidelines of the meetings, commercial agreements for almost 10 billion euros had been signed in almost all business sectors.

Last August, the People's Bank of China had already entered into Generali with 2,104%. The Chinese central bank has also exceeded the threshold of 2% in the capitals of Enel, Eni, Prysmian, Telecom Italy e Fiat-Chrysler, as well as holding 35% of Cdp Networks (the Italian gas and electricity grid).

Mediobanca, for its part, strengthens the internationalization strategy inaugurated by CEO Alberto Nagel: by now foreign shareholders make up almost four fifths of the capital.

At the beginning of the afternoon, in the wake of the rebound in Piazza Affari, the Mediobanca share on the Stock Exchange gained more than three and a half percentage points, 6,58 euro.
