Klimt in Rome: you can see, drink and taste it

Gustav Klimt he returns to Italy, 110 years after his participation in the international exhibition of fine arts. From 27 October to 27 March 2022, at Museum of Rome Palazzo Braschi, it will be possible to travel between the life and works of the famous painter who founded the Viennese Secession, and who for the first time investigates his relationship with Italy through the narration of his travels, between Trieste, Venice, Florence, Pisa, the lake of Garda and of course the Capital. And just on the occasion of the exhibition, ViVi – Palazzo Braschi at the Museum offers the special cocktail "Emilie's kiss" created by Head Bartender Sara Paternesi and the dessert "Viennese Delight" created by pastry chef Francesca Cascia.

"Emily's kiss” is a Vodka-based cocktail, with passion fruit liqueur, Strega liqueur, peach liqueur, aquafaba and lemon, decorated with gold leaf and a rosebud, two recurring elements in the artist's works. The gold to pay homage to the goldsmith father but also the Byzantine mosaics that he discovered in Ravenna and by which he was fascinated. The rose, on the other hand, symbol of love and passion, is a tribute to Gustav Klimt's great love, Emilie Flöge, avant-garde Austrian stylist, incredible businesswoman and inspiring muse of the painter. "Emilie's kiss" celebrates these traits, well represented by the rose, a beautiful and elegant flower but at the same time you can prick yourself with her thorns.

While, the "Viennese delight” consists of a dark chocolate and coffee mousse placed on a cocoa biscuit and covered with a cocoa mirror glaze. This sweet celebrates the painter's Austrian origins and the great cafés of the past, meeting places and cultural exchanges, between a slice of Sacher and a Kapuziner, a typical coffee-based drink with whipped cream and spices.

Gustav Klimt is still one of the most loved artists today, especially by women, perhaps for his ability to enhance female elegance and sensuality, embellishing it with extraordinary golden backgrounds, which recall the Byzantine mosaics so loved by the Austrian painter after a trip to Ravenna. There are 48 original works by Klimt including paintings, drawings, period posters and sculptures, exceptionally lent by the Belvedere Museum in Vienna, the Klimt Foundation and other public and private collections, such as the Neue Galerie Graz.

Among the special guests: "Judith I" (1901), iconic femme fatale-assassin, "Lady in white" (1917-18), "Amiche I" (The sisters, 1907) and "Amalie Zuclerkandl" (1917- 18); “The Bride” (1917-18), who leaves “home” for the first time; and then "Portrait of a Lady" (1916-1917), a painting stolen from the Ricci Oddi Modern Art Gallery in Piacenza in 1997 and recovered only in 2019, which anticipates a second exhibition to be held in Piacenza starting from 5 April 2022 .
