Keesy opens the first Keesy Point in Rome

Keesy – start-up founded in Florence which offers a fully automated self check-in and self check-out service dedicated to the home sharing sector – the first Keesy Point opens in Rome.

The inauguration took place today, December 13, in Viale Trastevere in the presence of the President of the Rome 1 Centro Municipality, Sabrina Alfonsi, and of the founder of Keesy Patrizio Donnini, who illustrated the methods, characteristics and strengths of the service.

Keesy represents a solution in non-hotel tourist hospitality as it is based on a business model – with patents filed in 151 countries – which renew the home sharing experience, making it more flexible, secure and efficient by placing digital at the service of managing the reception of the host to the guest.

The heart of Keesy's operation is Keesy Point, video-monitored structure located near railway stations, airports, metro stops, open 7 days a week, 7 hours a day, where check-in or check-out takes place, in particular the collection and return of the keys of the accommodation and all bureaucratic formalities, and which the guest accesses in a Keesy Box via a confidential code shared with the host via text message.

The opening of Keesy in Rome takes place in the context of the strong development of the tourism sector in the capital, which impacts on business opportunities and the future development of the city. In the first 9 months of 2017 there were over 26 million tourists in the city of Rome annually for a total of almost 11 million arrivals, according to recent estimates by the Lazio Bilateral Tourism Authority.

In particular, only in the third quarter of 2017 are they beyond 3 million overnight stays available in Rome through the 25.000 accommodation facilities present in the non-hotel world, managed by 11.000 hosts.

The opening of the first Keesy Point in Rome, located in Viale Trastevere 148, near Trastevere Station, responds to the strong receptivity of the area with a strong tourist vocation which has a high concentration of apartments for home sharing use, equal to 1.600 for a total of 900 hosts. Keesy expects to reach 10% of the apartment market by the end of 2018 and to total 1.000 users between hosts and guests for a total of 5.000 check-ins/check-outs by the end of 2019.

Keesy's start in Rome is part of a structured expansion plan of the start-up which sees upcoming openings in the main Italian cities, including Milan (between the end of December and the beginning of January) and Venice (by the end of January), and abroad in France, Spain and England, which will be added to Florence, already open from May 2017. In Rome, the first Keesy Point in Trastevere will also be followed within 2018 by the opening of a second check-in/check-out point near Termini Station.
