Juventus between bets, the Super Cup and the transfer market: we are probing for Astori

Juventus' most important week of the summer (and perhaps not only…) begins today. From the sentences of "Scommessopoli", which will decide the future of Conte, Bonucci and Pepe, to the Italian Super Cup against Napoli, passing through the always frenetic transfer market, much of the Juventus season will pass over the next seven days.

On Wednesday (or Thursday at the latest) the first instance sentences relating to the betting chaos will arrive, which, albeit due to facts of the past (no member on trial at the time of the events played for Juve) massively involves the Italian champion club. Simone Pepe risks 1 year of disqualification, Antonio Conte 1 year and 6 months, Leonardo Bonucci even 3 years and 6 months. No one negotiated, and the tone (both from Juve and from the FIGC) was high, indeed very high. The members in question are awaiting the sentences with relative confidence, partly because the precedents of sports justice tend towards the prosecution, partly because the climate between Juve and the Federcalcio certainly doesn't help. All in all, however, the Old Lady still has her cards to play, especially as regards the Bari vein: according to some rumors circulated yesterday, the Disciplinary would not be so convinced of the reliability of Andrea Masiello, the pentito par excellence of the investigation . And if this were confirmed, then the chances of acquittal for Bonucci and Pepe, who up to now have always said they were not involved in the facts, would greatly increase. On the other hand, it is unlikely that Conte will be able to get away with it completely, and it is no coincidence that the coach has already done general rehearsals in view of the Super Cup: in the friendly match against Benfica on Saturday he sat in the stands, sending his assistant Massimo Carrera to the bench.

In any case, the possible disqualification of the coach would change the club's plans little, unlike what would happen in the event of a stop for Bonucci. That's why Marotta is probing numerous leads: from Bocchetti (the most accredited) to Astori (difficult because Cellino is asking for 15 million), passing through Andreolli and Peluso (who would also play on the left), there are many names, but everything will possibly be postponed until next week. Because the future of Juventus will be decided in this one.
