Juve, misstep against Chievo

What could have been the decisive victory ends 1-1 – De Ceglie scores immediately, but the joke comes in the final – The public boos, Conte is not there: “Let's remember where we come from”.

Juve, misstep against Chievo

Call it JuventusX. The 12th twelfth draw in 25 games (4th in the last 5) weighs a ton on Juventus' ambitions, even if, it should be remembered, the match in Bologna is still missing (Wednesday, 18.30pm). The draw against Chievo confirms the worrying tendency of Juventus every time they face the so-called small teams at home: yesterday's draw is in fact the 5th home draw (the others had arrived with Bologna, Genoa, Cagliari and Siena). In short, many points lost, a paradox for a team that is still unbeaten, against a Milan that has already fallen 4 times. But in 3-point football it is known that a draw is equivalent to half a defeat and this Juve has already stumbled too many times. Now that the physical condition has dropped, the difficulties increase visibly and the Bianconeri are struggling more and more.

“I'm sorry because today we should have won but I also say that this team is going flat out – Antonio Conte said after the match – we gave a feeling of fatigue, there was the widespread feeling that we could concede a goal after watching the match. There was the desire to rock the world and we allowed restarts not from us. It can be okay given that this stadium gives you a crazy boost, but we can't attack with 8 and defend with 2...".

All correct, but more than balance, it seems to us that Juventus' real problem is in attack. Apart from Matri (but he too was impalbable last night), none of the strikers manages to score consistently. Conte has also noticed this, who has repeatedly shuffled the cards in the offensive department in the last few games, unfortunately for him without results. The case of Vucinic is emblematic, bought precisely to give goals and quality, yet still stuck at 3 goals (!). The Juventus public is beginning to lose patience with the former Roma player, so much so that the first boos arrived last night. Predictably, Conte didn't take it well: "We must never forget where we come from and that to win there is a path to take, we have found shortcuts but we must also admit that there are teams with superior personnel".

The Juventus coach is referring to Milan, which boasts an Ibrahimovic who already has 18 goals in the league, almost like the entire Juve attack (adding up the goals from Matri, Pepe, Vucinic and Quagliarella makes it to 20). Yesterday's was the classic match to be won by exploiting the episodes, also because there had been one: De Ceglie's goal was in fact offside, an error compensated for in the second half by Gervasoni, who did not send off Dramè (already booked) for a foul obvious. He himself then went on to score the equalizer. Juve are tired, but there won't be time to rest. In fact, on Wednesday the Bianconeri will face Bologna, in a match to be won at all costs, especially now that Milan are +3. in the event of a misstep, the Rossoneri's overtaking would become official. At that point we should run even more, and this Juve has been doing it since the beginning of the championship.
