Juve and Milan, two challenges for the Scudetto and Europe

The Italian champions host Udinese and cannot make concessions if they want to feed their irresistible desire for the Scudetto – Milan, after the misstep with Arsenal, must recover immediately to keep the European dream alive

Juve and Milan, two challenges for the Scudetto and Europe

Junction Sunday. The one for the Scudetto, which is played on the Turin-Milan axis and the one for Europe, which will have a more than interesting queue in Genoa. Juventus-Udinese (15 pm) and Genoa-Milan (18) are not the classic "cartel" matches but certainly they offer very heavy points up for grabs, perhaps decisive for a ranking that is still far from definitive but close to entering its most hot. “It will be an important turning point, let's remember that Napoli are still ahead – confirmed Allegri. – Udinese is a physical and aggressive team and we are coming from a bit of a struggle: for this reason I will make some changes, after all we have a week ahead of us with three delicate matches”. Yes, because Wednesday will be the championship again with the recovery of the match against Atalanta: the double home round could lead to overtaking Napoli, provided, however, that the loot is full.

The Juventus coach knows that, never like now, the management of forces could make the difference, that's why compared to the London match he will change men a bit in all departments. In goal, for example, there will be Szczesny, in defense a 4-man line with De Sciglio, Rugani, Chiellini and Asamoah, in midfield space for Marchisio, Pjanic and Matuidi, in attack trident Douglas Costa-Higuain-Mandzukic, with Dybala ready to take over off the bench. Oddo, back from three consecutive defeats against Torino, Roma and Sampdoria, will respond with the usual 3-5-1-1 with Bizzarri in goal, Nuytinck, Angella and Samir in the back, Widmer, Barak, Behrami, Fofana and Adnan in median, Jankto supporting the single Perica point.

At 18pm the spotlights will move to Marassi for a very interesting Genoa-Milan match, obviously weather permitting. In fact, the Civil Protection of the Liguria Region has released the yellow warning for thunderstorms, which is why the match remains at risk even if moderate optimism prevails. It is useless to deny that any postponement would create enormous problems especially for the Rossoneri, who are already grappling with the recovery of a derby which, at the moment, does not yet have a date but so be it: the calendar, moreover, is extremely clogged on its own and Gattuso's team, returning from the European commitment with Arsenal, could not however anticipate Saturday. Just Thursday's match turned on an alarm bell in the Milan world, forced to deal with a defeat that hadn't been around since the end of 2017. "It's a blow that, if taken in the right way, can also be useful - the comment of the Rossoneri coach. – In recent days I've seen the boys angry and I liked it, now we have a difficult match ahead of us on a difficult pitch like Marassi, we'll have to play our game and find the compactness we were before". Gattuso too, just like Allegri, will have to manage the men available, which is why there will be some changes compared to the match against Arsenal. In defense, to protect Donnarumma, there will be Borini, Bonucci, Romagnoli and Rodriguez, in midfield Kessié, Montolivo and Bonaventura, in attack Suso, Kalinic and Calhanoglu. Classic 3-5-2 for Ballardini who will try to stop Milan with Perin in goal, Biraschi, Spolli and Zukanovic in the back, Rosi, Rigoni, Bertolacci, Hiljemark and Laxalt in the midfield, Galabinov and Pandev as an offensive duo.
