The calm before the storm. The market, thanks to the first weekend of August, enters what may seem like a waiting phase, but only in appearance. The managers of the big teams, in fact, know well that the wheel is destined to start again within a few days, this time not to stop until the final bell. L'start of the championships, then, looms throughout Europe and this only increases the engine speed, both incoming and outgoing.
Juve, Nico Gonzalez overtakes Galeno: McKennie can enter the deal
Juventus continues the "skin change" wanted by the Giuntoli-Thiago Motta duo, albeit with an understandable slowdown. So far the parallel front of purchases and sales has worked well, but if selling the baby talents of the Next Gen has been relatively simple, the same cannot be said of the more "seasoned" redundancies, either due to contractual issues (Church), or due to costs and injuries (Milik, the young Broja from Chelsea could arrive in his place). In short, the Juventus director has not yet received the energy to definitively attack Todibo, Koopmeiners and a offensive winger, but the feeling is that it will do so very soon. The French defender has already promised himself for some time, now all that remains is to close the gap with Nice both on the formula (Juve would like an expensive loan with the right, ready to become an obligation, of redemption) and on the final price, while attacking midfielder and winger they still require more work. If we are now at the beginning of the dispute on Koopmeiners (45 million offered by Giuntoli, 60 million requested by Percassi), the big news of the week is Nico Gonzalez, who jumped into pole position for the role of offensive winger. The Argentine, also on Atalanta's roster, is very much liked by Thiago Motta and could arrive thanks to the McKennie card, followed with great interest by Fiorentina. Clearly a substantial compensation would then be needed in favor of the Viola and this is where the game is played: Juve does not want to go beyond 20 million, which is why Adeyemi has practically disappeared (Borussia Dortmund is asking for double) and has moved away, even if at all, Galen del Porto.
Milan, one week to close Emerson Royal and Fofana
Fonseca's Milan travels on the pitch (beaten Manchester City and Real Madrid in the American tour), a little less on the transfer market, where Furlani and Moncada struggle to materialize the numerous open paths. The past week saw the arrival of pavlovic from Salzburg, but the roster is still missing a breakthrough midfielder, a right back, a midfielder/attacking midfielder and a goalkeeper (made necessary by Sportiello's long stoppage, this is the loan of Scuffet from Cagliari), as well as a possible inclusion in attack (but only if Jovic leaves). The hottest names are the now well-known ones of Emerson Royal and Fofana, for which the Rossoneri management is ready to raise their respective offers. The idea, in fact, is to "deliver" them to Fonseca by the end of next week, so that he can start working on them in view of the start of the championship. The Brazilian from Tottenham is very close, given that the distance with the Spurs is reduced to a million, while the Frenchman from Monaco still faces initial difficulties, even if Milan is confident in pressing the player, who has long been convinced not to renew his contract in expires in 2025 and move to Italy. We were saying that another tip could be added to the appeal: the name is that of Abraham, partly because Fullkrug is now one step away from West Ham, much to the liking of Fonseca, who has always been an admirer of the Englishman. Roma, fresh from Dovbyk, are more than willing to talk about it, but at the moment there is no agreement on the compensation. Milan proposed Jovic, the Giallorossi relaunched first with Saelemaekers (considered untransferable by the Portuguese coach), then with Calabria, who however left the market after Florenzi's bad injury.
Inter, the fourth striker arrives only if Arnautovic and Correa leave
The Nerazzurri transfer market continues with the lights off, characterized by the tranquility of those who know they have already done the bulk of the work. The priority remains that of a left defender over whom mystery reigns at the moment: the only certain thing is that it will be a young man just as requested by Oaktree, decisive in blocking the roads that led to Hermoso and Rodriguez, the latter now settled at Betis Seville. At the same time, however, Inter hopes to give itself another striker, necessary to complete a department made up of the very welcome Lautaro, Thuram and Taremi and the "unwanted" Arnautovic and Correa. Inzaghi would like to get rid of the last two and add a fourth name to the list of the top three, especially since the Iranian, who has been excellent in the friendlies so far, has suffered a muscle injury and risks missing the first match of the championship against Genoa. This is why Marotta and Ausilio are planning a meeting with Arnautovic and Correa, in particular with the former, who up to now has been much less inclined to sell than the latter: the managers hope to strike the right chords and attack Gudmundsson, in the hope that Fiorentina doesn't arrive first. In fact, the Icelandic would be the first Viola target in the event of the sale of Nico Gonzalez, and if it is true that the boy could give priority to Inter, it is also true that he will hardly wait until the end of August, moreover without guarantees certain.
Roma unleashed: Ghisolfi buys again, but sales are also needed
The queen of the week was again Roma, protagonist of the coup dovbyk which sparked the enthusiasm of the Giallorossi people. The Ukrainian, top scorer of the last Spanish Liga with the surprising Girona, brought the total millions spent by the Friedkins to 100 and the party isn't over. Ghisolfi, in fact, still wants a short right winger (there is talk of Pubill from Almeria and Bellanova from Torino) and a tall one (in his sights are the former Sassuolo Boga, now at Nice, Galeno from Porto, Wesley Gassova from Corinthias and Pardo of Gent), after which he will concentrate on the front disposals, definitely important for rebalancing the budget. We have already talked about Abraham in the Milan chapter, the other names are those of Bove, Kumbulla, Karsdorp (surveys by Aek Athens and Besiktas) and Shomurodov (Verona), all on the market waiting for buyers.
Napoli accelerates on Neres and Gilmour, but anxiety rises over the Osimhen case
Less frenetic, at least in this phase, is the Napoli market, a prisoner of the Osimhen case. The past week has brought no news, with the Nigerian waiting for signals from PSG, currently the only team under consideration. The relationship with Campos is very solid, but De Laurentiis is rather irritated by the Parisian inaction, based on the awareness that the price, day after day, can only fall. The Azzurri thus tried to start a discussion with Chelsea, also to unblock the deal Lukaku, in turn stopped waiting for the final green light, but Osimhen only wants PSG, both for technical and opportunistic reasons (the Blues, in fact, will not play the Champions League). Conte waits, in the meantime he hopes to be able to hug the midfielder as soon as possible gilmour (12 million plus bonuses offered to Brighton) and the offensive winger David Neres of Benfica, who however requires an investment of at least 25 million: money that will be there as soon as Osimhen leaves, another reason to hurry and put an end to the soap opera of the summer.
