“The European Union is giving a disastrous image,” said the president of the Eurogroup, Jean Claude Junker. During the umpteenth meeting of Ecofin Junker he explained that the "EU is setting an example of leadership that doesn't work". It must be admitted that Junker's statement is not without foundation. Each meeting never seems to be definitive: Sarkozy and Merkel will meet on Saturday, the European summit on Sunday will end only after a second meeting on Wednesday.
Today in Brussels the economy ministers of the 17 countries of the monetary union couldor decide whether to grant the eighth tranche of 8 billion to save Greece from default. At the end of the day we will know what they (not) have decided.
