His name is Javier Martin Artajo and years ago he was a trader at JP Morgan. They arrested him today in Madrid. Together with his former colleague Julien Grout, he is accused of having covered up for the "Whale of London": he is alleged to have hidden losses that cost the American banking giant over six billion dollars.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, which quotes a spokesman for the Spanish police, the Spaniard gave himself up after being heard by a police team specializing in fugitives.

The charges are of fraud, conspiracy and forgery of accounting books. Martin-Artajo will appear before a court in Madrid.
