Jiffy, Italian banks launch wire transfers via chat on mobile phones

Il instant transfer via chat on mobile it is reality, even in Italy. The main Italian banks have joined together to launch the service through the network "Jiffy” by Sia, a company that is part of the galaxy of the Italian Strategic Fund. A move that has the dual purpose of rejuvenating our institutes and fighting competition from similar services launched by Facebook (for now only in the United States) and other startups.

Ubibanca made its debut, which was joined in July by Intesa Sanpaolo, Bnl, Unicredit, Carige, Cariparma and Widiba, which will soon be joined by Mediolanum, Bpm, Banca Popolare di Sondrio, Che Banca, Poste Italiane and Montepaschi.

Customers of these banks will be able to install their institution's app and make immediate transfers for customers of any other bank that subscribes to the service. Moreover, in this way the institutes also break down the twenty-four hour limit: the beneficiary, in fact, will find the sum credited to the account immediately.

The next step, for Sia, is to open the "Jiffy" service to other European countries as well as merchants, who will thus be able to get paid via chat instead of by credit card and debit card.
