Ius soli: hunger strike also for Delrio

The Minister of Infrastructures has decided to join the relay hunger strike in support of the approval of the law by the end of the legislature. So far 70 parliamentarians have joined the initiative.

“Minister Graziano Delrio and undersecretaries Benedetto Della Vedova and Angelo Rughetti are also joining the relay hunger strike which begins on Thursday 5 October, to support the discussion in the Chamber and the confidence in the provision of the Ius Soli. And dozens and dozens of senators and deputies”. The announcement was made by the senator of the Democratic Party Luigi Manconi, president of the Human Rights Commission at Palazzo Madama. And, apparently, the number of parliamentarians ready to vote on the law that allows immigrants born in Italy, under certain conditions, to automatically become Italian citizens is growing. There are 70 parliamentarians who have joined the relay.

“After so many shouted words, the time has come for reflection on the ius alone. Maybe it's time to speak with gestures, to make people understand meekly and non-violently ". Thus the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Graziano Delrio wanted to underline that the game of the law on citizenship did not end here. “As long as there is a legislature there is hope,” says Delrio. He is the minister who more than others believes in and fought for the law that the secretary of the Democratic Party Matteo Renzi strongly supported and to support it even now he adheres to the "relay" hunger strike proposed by teachers and students and promoted in Parliament by the senator pd Luigi Manconi. Goal: To support classroom discussion and trust in the law.
