The countdown has started: it returns from 20 to 26 March 2023, throughout Italy, "Italy Beer Week“, a widespread event dedicated to craft beer, now in its thirteenth edition. Unmissable appointment, promoted by Cronache di Birra, to taste the best Italian labels, find out what's new in the sector, meet the master brewers and learn more about the world of beer, a sector in great evolution: in the last 10 years the production tripled exceeding the quota of 1085 realities in 2022.
Italy Beer Week aims to spread culture and support the Italian beer movement, involving different realities throughout the national territory. The event invites pubs, breweries and restaurants from all over Italy to organize events and promotions dedicated to craft beer, which can be reported on the event website. Adherence to the review is completely free and each entity can contribute with tastings, public brews, meetings with brewers, presentations of new beers, pairing dinners, seminars, webinars, live broadcasts on social media and much more. Also on the site of the review, users can find the calendar (still evolving) of the event.
How Covid has changed the beer market
“What has happened internationally in recent years has upset the craft beer market, forced to face first the closures of the anti-Covid restrictions, then the heavy price increases at all levels. However, the beer market responded well to the difficulties: per capita consumption quickly returned to pre-Covid levels and the public returned to popular festivals and themed events - he said Andrea Turco, director of Cronache di Birra –. However, the situation remains delicate and clear initiatives to support the sector of all kinds are essential. Once again with Italy Beer Week we will try to support the craft beer movement, thanks to a national event, with great visibility and capable of uniting the entire sector in a single, great collective toast".
Over the past editions, Italy Beer Week gathered 3.640 members for a total of 4.619 events and promotions.
The 2023 edition of the week dedicated to craft beer
To open the dance of the craft beer week the Ball of Debutantes. The traditional inaugural event of Italy Beer Week this year will be held at the Open Baladin in Turin and Rome. Saturday 18 e Sunday March 19 the two venues will offer an absolute preview of all 12 unpublished beers of the Ballo delle Debutante on tap and in bottles, available on a single occasion. In addition, it will be possible to taste the thirteenth "debutante", the brand new Botanic by Baladin, a non-alcoholic beer produced with an intriguing mix of herbs and spices. On Saturday 18 March there will also be some brewers from the Ballo delle Debutante, who will present their creations with the moderation of Andrea Bedini.
Those who will not be able to reach the capital or the Piedmontese capital will still be able to taste the "debutantes" on the site 1001Beersby purchasing a special box containing unpublished beers. To taste them with the brewers who made them, there are four online live streams on the Italy Beer Week Facebook page, which will always be held between 20 and 26 March.
Furthermore, from Monday 20 March the "debutantes" will be available exclusively on drafts of some selected pubs throughout Italy participating in the Italy Beer Week.
