Open Fiber: 2023 tenders awarded
Open Fiber has also awarded the public tenders for design, works and materials relating to the whole of 2023. The total value of the tenders amounts to around one billion euros. The winning bidders have undertaken to comply with the stringent deadlines of the calls for tenders, which provide for time schedules with deadlines aligned with the stages of the 1 Giga Italy Plan.
The construction sites have been started in all lots, as envisaged in the agreements signed with Infratel. “Open Fiber is building an ultrabroadband infrastructure throughout Italy – communicates the company – with the aim of connecting large and medium-sized cities, villages and small towns, industrial areas. As part of its overall industrial plan (White Areas, Black Areas and "Italia 1 Giga"), the company has already covered over 15.5 million real estate units".
“Despite the challenging context, characterized by inflation e shortage of manpower, we concluded the first phase of the Plan and awarded all the tenders for the second and third phases – he underlines Guido Bertinetti, director of Network and Operations of Open Fiber –. With the aim of stimulating the expansion of the number of resources employed in the sector, in addition to having increased the price lists, we have introduced a 'mobilization fee', i.e. a bonus for companies for each worker hired from another sector or from abroad" .
