No new names for Csm and Consulta, but an acceleration on the electoral reform front. This is the result of last night's meeting between the premier, Matteo Renzi, and the leader of Forza Italia, Silvio Berlusconi. It was a sort of coupon for the Pact of the Nazarene, which however did not serve to unblock the stalemate on the election of members of the Superior Council of the Judiciary and of the Constitutional Court appointed by parliament.
"There was no mention of Consulta and CSM except to share the appeal of the Head of State: the groups have already spoken and we are going ahead with those names", specified the deputy secretary of the Democratic Party, Lorenzo Guerini at the end of the meeting . The last names indicated by Pd and Forza Italia are respectively those of Luciano Violante and Donato Bruno.
The central theme of the conversation between the two leaders was that of reforms. “We have tried to make progress in the electoral law in particular, also through a scheduling in the short term in the Senate – continued Guerini -. We know what the open issues are and we have given our willingness to address the problems highlighted so far".
Guerini then denied that there was talk of early elections. According to rumors, Berlusconi said he had been reassured by Prime Minister Renzi that he will receive trade union and military representatives to resolve the release of the police force's salary caps.
