Italicum, Renzi: Parliament decides, not the Democratic Party

Previously Renzi had made it clear that he was ready to take the initiative on changes to the electoral law, but now he clarifies that the Democratic Party will not present any proposals: “Otherwise the others will just say no. I don't decide, it's a choice of Parliament". Open game

Italicum, Renzi: Parliament decides, not the Democratic Party

"For me the Italicum is an excellent law, but if everyone thinks of reopening the issue, the Democratic Party is not ready to present another proposal, otherwise you will do like the artichoke, with the others just saying no - explained the Prime Minister Matteo Renzi speaking on Radio Popolare – but we are truly available to go and see the cards and to discuss””.

“I don't make a new law – he continued – I don't decide, it's a choice of Parliament. But the electoral law is less important than the constitutional reform and if you need to change it, you change it”.

Previously the indiscretions collected by the newspapers suggest that Renzi was ready to take the initiative on the Italicum presenting a new proposal to arrive at a new electoral law by October or in any case before the referendum vote, so as to ease tensions with the Pd minority and broaden the Yes front in the referendum.

The main game, in fact, is precisely that of the referendum of 4 December and to win it the Prime Minister is also ready to sacrifice the current structure of Italicum. But now he wants the others to do it, in order to favor a climate of agreement in view of the consultation.

A part of Italians “has already decided how to vote in the referendum and another hasn't decided yet – continued Renzi – that there is 50 percent who still haven't decided is crazy. It is clear that the game is open. Citizens don't think about the consultation overnight: attention will grow when the final decision is reached. I'm not denying that someone can vote against me, but this referendum doesn't happen every day and it concerns the future of our children. However, I also found some anti-Renzi committees for the Yes. They are the nicest".
