Italian food, what a passion: half of Italians talk about food every day

A little more than half of the Italian population talks about food every day. An irresistible passion that affects 51% of compatriots with a peak in young people aged between 18 and 34, including the percentage that rises to 58%. This was revealed by a research by Squadrati "Italians who talk about food: an infinite debate" commissioned by Coca-Cola, which investigated how true the perception is that in our country talking about tastes at the table is as important as the act of eating itself. The analysis was carried out on a sample of 1.504 interviewees, aged between 18 and 64 years.

The survey shows in particular that the home is the realm of discussions on food and tastes (80% of the interviewees), followed at a distance by the restaurant (53%) and the office (45%). Followed by supermarkets (34%), bars (30%) and finally social networks (20%). Among these, the preferred platform for discussing food is Facebook: used for this purpose by 59% of people who debate on social networks. The most social region is Campania with 32% of Campanians vs 20% of the national average. From the propensity it emerges that then in the ranking of the people with whom it happens most often to start discussions on the topic, friends conquer the first place (reported by 74% of the sample) and beat their partner (in second place with 62% of the answers), followed by then, in third position, by parents and colleagues (both at 45%). Lazio is the region where we talk more frequently about food with friends (78% of the interviewees vs. 74% of the national average), Piedmont is in contrast to the conversations with the partner, which here reach 71% of the preferences vs. 62% of the national average

44% of Italians have no doubts about why the topic of food is so relevant in conversations: because it is a pleasure in life. Finally, 82% of Italians believe that food is a serious subject with 88% of those interviewed talking about food while at the table of which 67% talk about what they are eating, but 20% are already projected to what will he eat during the following meals. Finally, the most loved saying that confirms the link between food and words is "Talk as you eat".
