Italy ranks third in wealth (median)

The recent Credit Suisse report on world wealth holds some surprises and consolations for the weary loins of Italian families exhausted by the crisis. We were rich and we didn't know it. The report, which estimates global wealth and by country up to mid-2014, concludes that wealth has continued to increase even in these difficult years, and in the world it has reached 263 trillion dollars, an increase of 8,3 .2013% compared to mid-XNUMX.

The figures are also flattering for Italy, given that the capitalization of financial assets increased by almost 50% thanks to the stock market (both prices and new entries) and thanks to the market value of debt securities, especially public ones (with low rates, the value of the "principal" for medium-long term securities has increased significantly).

As far as levels are concerned, as distinct from variations, the average wealth per adult of Italians is not among the top ten worldwide: Switzerland takes the lead, followed by Australia, Norway and the United States. However, when we move on to the median wealth (which takes into account the distribution) the USA - a country with strong inequalities - disappears from the list. In first place is Australia, second is Belgium and third is Italy, with 142 dollars of wealth per adult.
