Italgas wins tender for natural gas in Val d'Aosta

Italgas wins an important tender in Valle d'Aosta: for the next 12 years it will manage the natural gas distribution service in the territorial area of the Alpine region, which it is made up of 74 municipalities, of which 24 are currently Etanised (served by approximately 350 km of networks), for a total of 20.000 end users and a Rab of over 40 million euro. In the offer presented, the company has foreseen investments of around 100 million euros for the extension of the networks to areas not yet reached by the service, the strengthening and digitization of the existing infrastructures, the further improvement of the quality and safety of the service.

Italgas thus overcame the competition from two other operators in the sector, i.e. Megareti (AgsmVerona group) and Energie des Alpes (Energetica group). According to forecasts, the investments will also be a stimulus for the local economy, with repercussions in terms of employment, while the extension of the service to new territories will guarantee savings in bills and a significant reduction in polluting emissions. "After the Turin 2 Area we obtain further confirmation in a territory of strong and historical roots for Italgas such as the Aosta Valley - he said the managing director of Italgas Paolo Gallo, speaking of "a result that bears witness to the goodness of the work carried out and which allows us not only to give continuity to the management of the service on the territory, but also to carry out the important investment programs".

Among the interventions envisaged in the Italgas plan are the construction of approximately 270 kilometers of new networks and the methane supply of 17 new municipalities, including the entire valley between Aosta and Courmayeur, the increase in users served, from the current 20.000 to around 40.000 over the 12-year concession, the complete digitization of the network and systems, including the installation of smart meters on 100% of current and future users and energy efficiency measures in over 70 regional and municipal public buildings.
