Itabus, the countdown has started: we start on May 27th

From May 27 it will come into operation itabus, a new operator of long-distance road passenger transport. Born from the initiative of Flavio Cattaneo, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, Angelo Donati, Isabella Seragnoli and the Punzo family as shareholders of the new company, Itabus aims to also reach places not served by large infrastructures.

When fully operational, the new company aims to be able to count on a 100% owned fleet consisting of 300 latest generation buses. The vehicles will be supplied exclusively by the German company Man, with which a contract has been signed which provides for the replacement of the vehicles every two years. They will be expected 350 services per dayincluding overnight trips. The initiative will help generate more than a thousand jobs, including related industries.

Two partnerships also announced: one with Eni, which will be entrusted with the refueling of Euro 6D diesel vehicles and the experimentation of eco-sustainable solutions in the fields of hydrogen and electric mobility, for future use by Itabus; the other with Tim, which will guarantee the connectivity of the vehicles which will all be equipped with an internal 4G and 5G Wi-Fi network.

"Itabus was born out of trust in the project and in the country, with a team of shareholders who have known each other since the days of Italo - said Flavio Cattaneo, vice president of Italo and one of the shareholders of the new Itabus – The project is entirely Italian and is positioned in the Centre-South: another proof of initiatives that make the Centre-South their center of gravity”.

Itabus "is a pure entrepreneurial initiative, all Italian, with all the business risks and not with subsidies", he added Luca Cordero di Montezemolo.
