Ita Airways: loss of 486 million in 2022. Negative Ebitda. Revenues of 1,576 billion

ITA Airways closed on budget 2022 with a net loss of approx 486 million euros, equal to about 1,3 million burned every day. The loss was weighed down by the global macroeconomic crisis which had an impact of over 280 million euros mainly due to the increase in the cost of fuel and the deterioration of the exchange rate between the euro and the dollar. L'Ebitda is negative for 338 million euros. THE revenues totals amounted to 1,576 billion with approximately 1,272 billion deriving from the passenger traffic business. In 2021, the year of birth of the company in which it operated only starting from 15 October, revenues had instead been 90 million euros. As of December 31, 2022 in cash 418 million while the net assets stands at 524 million.

10 million passengers transported

In 2022 the airline has operated 97.000 flights of line and transported over 10 million of passengers (in 2021 they had been 1,3). Ita succeeded – it reads in company note – “to intercept the recovery in air traffic which has taken place since the second half of the year by increasing its market share.

Good results on the operational level with the 99 % di regularity on operations and81 % di punctuality. The net promoter score annual, the management tool that can be used to evaluate loyalty in a company-customer relationship, is equal to 26.2, above the values ​​recorded in the sector in the same time interval.

For the company, the 2022 result is “consistent with the start-up phase of the company in a still weak market context in the first months of the year due to the persistence of the Covid pandemic". Excluding the macroeconomic situation, "the company's operating performance improved compared to the forecasts of the industrial plan and the corporate budget".

The forecast for 2023

For the 2023 financial year, Ita expects afurther substantial growth of revenues driven by the expansion of routes and the increase in the fleet, which leads to a significant improvement in the expected operating result.

The negotiations for the acquisition of 40% by Lufthansa continue

Le continue negotiations by Lufthansa to acquire 40% of ITA Airways for an amount between 250 and 300 million euros. Tomorrow the CEO of the German company, Carsten Spohr, will arrive in Rome to meet the Italian government.
