In September, the retail sales in Italy. According to the latest Istat data, the seasonally adjusted index fell by 0,4% compared to the previous month, while on an annual basis the decline was 1,6%. On average for the July-September 2011 quarter, the index decreased by 0,6% compared to the previous three months.
In comparison with August 2011, the sales of foodstuffs decreased by 0,2% and those of non-food products by 0,4%. In the first nine months of 2011, compared to the same period of 2010, the raw index decreased by 0,7%. Sales of food products mark an increase of 0,1% and those of non-food products a decrease of 1,2%.
