Il gross domestic product of our country will grow by 0,9% this year to then rise to 1,4% in both 2016 and 2017. This was reported by theIstat in its bulletin on the prospects for the Italian economy in the three-year period 2015-2017. The national institute of statistics has raised the forecast for GDP growth by two tenths of a percentage point compared to the previous estimate.
The household spending which this year, according to estimates by the statistical institute, will rise by 0,8% in real terms, following the improvement of the conditions on the labor market and disposable income. In 2016, Istat forecasts a strengthening of consumption private individuals (+1,2%) which will also continue in 2017 (+1,1%).
THEIstatfurthermore, he points out that in 2015 domestic demand net of inventories will contribute positively to the change in GDP by 0,7 percentage points, while net foreign demand will subtract one tenth of a percentage point from product expansion. A significant contribution from inventories is expected in the current year (+0,3 percentage points). The strengthening of the economy will determine, in 2016 and 2017, a growing contribution from domestic demand (+1,2 percentage points) which will be accompanied by a slightly positive contribution from net foreign demand (+0,1 percentage points).
Positive forecasts from Istat also on the front ofoccupation which in 2015 will rise by 0,6%. The unemployment rate will drop to 12,1% this year. For the next year, Istat expects an even more significant increase in employment (+0,9%) and a decrease of unemployment rate at 11,5%. Finally, for 2017, employment should grow less intensely than in 2016 (+0,7%) while unemployment should fall to 11,3%.
